Rainbows/Scouts x Karibu BHM event

In honour of Black History Month (BHM) and to assist the kids in receiving their BHM badges, Karibu had the pleasure of sharing all things relating to African culture. The session was very interactive, with the girls specifically learning about Nigeria and Namibia.

They enjoyed hearing about the history, evolution and making of traditional clothes, jewellery and household items from each respective country.
To bring things even more to life, a few girls dressed up in African attire which included dashikis, head scarves and ankara skirts. To complement the continent’s vibrant nature, the Rainbows and Scouts vibed to Afrobeat music while trying their hand at rattle maraca
shakers.
In the excitement to tuck in, we totally forgot to capture pictures of the food! However, everyone filled their stomachs with Nigeria’s most raved about cuisine - jollof rice! This was paired with delicious fried plantain and the yummiest meat pie. The night was a great success, with education and fun having been achieved.
